Overview

The Diploma in Technical and Vocational Education (Top-up) is designed for graduates of the Technical and Vocational Teachers' Training Programme in Adult Education, who were awarded a certificate. This programme provides advanced knowledge and practical skills to strengthen pedagogical practice, particularly for teachers seeking recognition as trained educators.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must:

• Hold the Certificate from the Technical and Vocational Teachers’ Training Programme in Adult Education.
• Be actively engaged in teaching or vocational training.

Target Audience

• Secondary school teachers and tertiary instructors in technical and vocational fields.

Modality

• All sessions shall be conducted online.

Programme Structure

The top-up consists of two courses (4 credits total, 60 hours):

Course 1: TVPTV08 – Principles of Technical and Vocational Education

Course Description

This course aims to survey the historical and philosophical issues relating to the various types of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes. It will provide opportunities for participants to engage in discussing and synthesising responses related to the objectives and characteristics, principles, models, and special populations and stigma of TVET programmes.

Course 2: TVAR19 – Action Research

NUMBER OF HOURS: 30 HOURS

Course Description

This course aims to introduce participants to the Action Research methodology. It will furnish them with knowledge of history, theoretical foundations and models of action research. Practical activities will be employed to facilitate the understanding of the action research process. Upon completion of this course, participants will be required to use the action research approach to investigate a problem relevant to their environment.

The proposed cost of the top-up programme is $150 per student.
